For a client of ours - a system integrator working for the English-speaking countries in South Africa, we are looking for experienced information technology professional who is responsible for oversee, maintain and manage various datacenter operations, hardware and networks.

We are seeking a skilled DevOps System Administrator to join their team and help them streamline their development and deployment processes.

Job Brief:

We are seeking a skilled DevOps System Administrator to  streamline the development and deployment processes. You should be able to provide professional high-quality services under challenging yet rewarding conditions.

You will automate and enhance integrated system operations throughout their lifecycle. Your role involves overseeing, maintaining, and managing diverse systems and infrastructure operations. Resourcefulness is key, as you'll need to quickly determine, and resolve issues while utilizing a broad range of tools and technologies. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and users.

Your objective will be to ensure the seamless and efficient operation of the technological infrastructure of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the smooth functioning of deployed systems
  • Manage system infrastructure and technology tools
  • Monitoring for performance and potential issues in a proactive manner
  • Governing database operations
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages remotely and on-site
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation
  • Identifying and deploying cybersecurity measures and policies
  • Automating repetitive system administration jobs
  • Ensuring security and efficiency of deployed infrastructure
  • International travel is part of the role

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Can work independently and be proactive
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Windows and Linux based OS
  • A crucial requirement is the experience of managing automation tools such as: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Salt etc. and version control tools such as CVS or GIT and not only using them.
  • Cloud infrastructure know-how
  • Experience with SQL language and database maintenance and management - Oracle DB, MySQL, MS SQL
  • Experience with Zabbix monitoring automation
  • Fluent with versioning tools - GIT
  • Mastery of configuration management - SaltStack
  • Basic programming and scripting skills - Python / Bash / Powershell / Perl / YAML / Jinja / HTML
  • Strong IT support and management skills with Incident, Change, and Configuration Management ITIL certified or similar
  • Driver's license category B, active driver
  • Proficiency in English of intermediate or higher level
